VAVi Fire Pits
Saving the Fire Pits One Ball at a Time

VAVi Sport and Social Club has teamed up with the City of San Diego to save our beloved fire pits. The fire pits are a staple of our beaches lending residents and tourists a free place to gather for warmth, cookouts and laughter. But they are also costly to clean and maintain. The city needs to raise $173,000 by December of 2010 to keep the program running and VAVi is asking our members to help.
Isn’t it time to give back to our home and America’s Finest City?
5 Reasons why you should help:
1. Beauty: The pits keep our beaches clean and ash-free
2. Budgets: The city can invest more into fields so we can run leagues
3. Fun: Everyone loves hanging around a fire with friends and family
4. Ease: It’s no fun for the one who has to lug the grill down to the sand
5. Safety: The pits keep flames contained and cannot topple over
How You Can Help:
1. Donate Online: Click HERE to donate directly and learn more about the program.
2. Ask your Boss: Many companies look for ways to support the community. This opportunity might hit home. Hey, it never hurts to ask.
3. Write a Check: Mail in a donation to VAVi’s new office at 1940 Garnet Ave. Suite 101 San Diego, CA 92109. Make the check out to the City of San Diego.
4. Up your Registration: You can select a $5 donation when you sign-up for our beach volleyball leagues and classes.
5. Buy a Ball: Purchase a Kickball and start practicing for our upcoming VAVi’s National Kickball Tournament . We’ll also have balls for sale at upcoming Sunday Funday leagues.
6. Purchase a Football Mania Ticket: Come July, VAVi will be selling $20 lottery style pool tickets. You’ll have a chance to win $500 each week of the NFL season.
7. Volunteer: You can’t clean the pits, but you can still check out VAVi’s volunteer club for other ways to give back to the community.
