GOLF at MBGC: Beginner and Social
Why join one of VAVi’s fun Coed Golf Leagues?
VAVi’s Golf Leagues have become so popular that we have created multiple levels so that every kind of player can enjoy this sport. The instructor is great and ensures that players of all skill levels get the instruction they are looking for. Whether you are looking to have fun and meet others who enjoy our Coed Social Golf League or you are looking to pick up the basics of the game or brush up on your skills with our Golf Lessons, VAVi’s Coed Golf Leagues have what you are looking for! Golf Lessons
- Our Golf Lessons are for beginners who wants to learn the basics of a full swing, chipping, putting, irons, sand play as well as for the intermediate golfer who is just looking to brush up on their skills.
- The golf lessons consist of four 2 hour sessions with a golf professional under the lights at Mission Bay Golf Course
- 9 holes of golf on the fifth session
- Students will learn the basics of a full swing, chipping, putting, irons, sand play, and much more
- Clubs may be rented from the course free of charge. Each set includes 2 woods, 3 - 5 - 7 - 9 iron, and putter
What’s Also Included in the Fee?
- Practice golf balls every week
- 5 sessions with a Professional Experienced Instructor
- Nine holes of golf on the fifth week
Coed Social Golf League
- Our Coed Social Golf League is for players of varying skill levels
- There are 7 regular season games and a tournament for all players on the 8th week
- There will be a small group lesson each week before everyone tees off
- Players are paired up with different players each week and play 9 holes under the lights at Mission Bay Golf Course
- Most players are a 10 – 20 handicap
- Groups of 4 will be randomly assigned at final check-in time
- Tournament: Handicaps will be tabulated each week to determine regular season rankings. All players are invited to play in the end-of-season tournament!

- Seven regular season meetings

Attire
- Golf shoes are optional, and you may wear soft cleats or metal spikes

Instructor
Instructor's Bio: Bill Westerlund
- Bill turned professional on 4/1/1970. He became a PGA Member in 1976. In 1996 he became a PGA Life Member. In 2001 Bill achieved PGA Quarter Century status. In his present position at Mission Bay Golf Course & Practice Center he instructs Men, women, and juniors privately, as well as instructing group clinics ie. VAVi. He teaches using the JCVideo, computer digital video swing analysis. He has been at Mission Bay for a little over three years. Prior to this he was the Director of Instruction/Head Teaching Professional for the Jim McLean Golf School at LaCosta Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, CA. from 2002 - 2004. From 1995 thru 2001 he was the Director of Instruction/Head Teaching Professional for LaCosta Resort & Spa.
