in VAVi history … ok, it’s our first, but it’s going to be a great time. We needed an excuse to throw a party at the
beach and we used up “just because” … so why not have a volleyball tournament …
whoo hoo! There will be multiple
divisions for all levels of play, music, sun, sand, prizes, giveaways, happy
hour following the tournament (of course), and good times had by all … I
guarantee it. Consider this one last
party at the beach before we are forced to endure the bitter San Diego

Tournament Format
Teams consist of four (or more) players, with at least two
women playing. Free substitutions are
allowed and rally scoring may be used to determine the winner. We expect to have 32 teams so sign up early
to save your spot! Sign up by September
12th and save $5 … hey, that’s good enough for beer.
The day begins with round robin pool play in the morning to
determine seeds. The double elimination
main draw continues throughout the day.
Unlike most tournaments, if you are knocked out of the main event early,
you continue play in another division.
Finally, single elimination continues in the afternoon to crown a
champion of each division. Every team
is guaranteed six matches … even if you lose every game (I’m sure you’ll start
happy hour a little early in this case).
Feature courts with music, “grand” stands, and play-by-play
announcers will give you a taste of what it’s like to be an AVP Pro. We’re just as good as they are … right? Ok, fine … we can pretend.
Prizes will be given to winners and all participants are
eligible for giveaways. There will be
plenty of other games and activities to keep you, your friends, and family
entertained. Even if you don’t play
volleyball, come on by … it will be fun for everyone. See you there!!!
