VAVi’s Sport Leagues cater to young active professionals in the Greater San Diego area while VAVi’s Events have been attended nationally and internationally. Most recently VAVi has partnered with industry leader, Volo, with the goal of growing VAVi’s offerings in Southern California powered by Volo’s tech and passion for community outreach through the Volo Kid’s Foundation.

Job Description

Team Management
- Manage all Sports Commissioners
- Act as escalation contact for part-time staff members
- Handle new team member screening & onboarding
- Recruit, hire, schedule and evaluate excellent part-time talent to run our leagues and events
- Lead initiatives for engagement and support- including pre-season training, mid-season check-ins, and end of season celebrations
- Provide staff & volunteer feedback, review & analysis
- Responsible for a strong and exciting office culture
Customer Service
- Resolve any emerging problems that our customers might face with accuracy and efficiency
- Anticipate and provide proactive solutions to prevent problems from arising in the future
- Act as escalation point for player, parent, partner, and volunteer inquiries
League Product
- Be accountable for quality across all youth and adult products
- Curate appropriate league experience to match league needs
- Manage the development and presentation of staff and volunteer training
- Assure quality control and strength of programs through site visits and serve as a site lead for programs whenever necessary
- Spearhead league audits & evaluations
- Develop relationships with current and future league & bar venues
- Track the needs of each site including improvements
- Sport team merging & scheduling
Public & Private Relationship Management
- Develop relationships with current and future league venues
- Track the needs of each site including improvements
- Obtain permits for current and new locations
- Facilitate partnerships with community organizations, neighborhoods, and potential funders
Fundraising & Development
- Support youth program funding opportunities
- Execute fundraising activities with the support of league hosts
Qualifications
MUST-HAVES
- Minimum of 4-8 years of professional experience
- Ability to work nights and weekends
- Can marshal resources effectively and comfortably navigate a fast-paced, ever-changing environment with minimal supervision
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Dynamic personality interested in working in, and contributing to, a fun and active sporting environment

Job Description
Job Type: Full Time
Schedule: M-F 9am-6pm, ability to work some nights and weekends
Reports To: San Diego Managing Director
RESPONSIBILITIES
Programming Execution & Growth
- Manage operations and logistics and grow local programs
- Assure quality control and strength of programs through site visits and serve as a site lead for programs as needed
- Use Foundation curriculum and program training materials for coaches and adjust as needed to preserve the quality of training & programming
- Develop relationships with current and future league venues
- Interact with parents of programs and enhance retention rates
- Collect program metrics and analysis throughout the season and utilize tools provided for tracking and evaluating
Virtual Programming
- Manage daily operations and logistics for all Virtual programs
- Grow and retain player and volunteer base through strategic and targeted outreach efforts
- Collect program metrics and analysis throughout the season and utilize tools provided for tracking and evaluating
- Maintain relationships with current and future partners
- Work with local leadership to effectively integrate virtual sessions into program cancellation plan
Customer Service

- Assign staff and volunteers to each program as a program lead and for collecting weekly feedback
Expand Impact Via Marketing, Community Outreach, Partnerships & Events
- Increase brand awareness for the Volo Kids Foundation through community events; Be the outreach event lead & attend events as needed
- Strategically track effectiveness of these events by measuring growth in recruitment numbers for volunteers and kids at our leagues
- Identify community events for Volo Kids Foundation to promote offerings and endure proper staffing of community outreach volunteers
- Create a system where community outreach volunteers can be empowered to plan and execute community outreach events
- Facilitate partnerships with community organizations and neighborhoods to grow youth registration numbers
Fundraising & Development
- Collect data & provide analysis to support future funding opportunities
- Execute fundraising activities with the support of city team and local hosts
Qualifications
MUST-HAVES
- BA or BS degree; minimum of 1-3 years of professional experience
- Demonstrated success in leading program strategies with the ability to identify and respond to opportunities with tailoring, designing and managing innovative, high-quality programs
- Ability to work nights and weekends (most hours will be in the office and fall into the general M-F work week 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., but additional hours are required)
- Can marshal resources effectively and comfortably navigate a fast-paced, ever-changing environment with minimal supervision
- Detail-oriented project manager – you have experience managing multiple projects across function areas and feel comfortable wearing many hats
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Dynamic personality interested in working in, and contributing to, a fun and active work environment – inside the office and out in the field!
